Trap Box PVD

DJ turned chef, Welbi “Trap” Genao, carries his family’s traditions with his revolutionary style inspired by his Dominican roots. Trap Box PVD food truck pops up at breweries, street fairs, and local shop collaboratives and offers a modern twist on familiar Latin food in the form of Cuban sandwiches, tacos, and burgers. As a native English speaker and Rhode Islander, Welbi is acutely aware of the differences between his parents' migration story and his experience as a first-generation Dominican born in the US. Welbi uses these differences as a generative source of creativity.
